Portrait of a man in red chalk is the only self-portrait that Leonardo Da Vinci left behind, In France is where he painted this, it seems Leonardo painted himself older than his age in the painting he could’ve been in his early 60s when this was painted. The way Leonardo painted himself in this portrait is the same exact was he wanted others to see him, he looked like a traditional philosopher, prophet or possibly god, older man with long white beard and hair, bushy eyebrows, and many wrinkles around his nose eyes and forehead. Quite interestingly the portrait is similar to Rafael’s School of Athens painting where Leonardo was represented in Plato. The self-portrait is not usually viewed by the public due to the piece fragility and condition.
